Hi linux geeks!

How are you? In this article we will share a nice tip that will make mass file and folder rename process very easy. The tool we will use is called pyRenamer. To install it in Ubuntu or a Debian distro use the following command.

sudo apt-get install pyrenamer

Ok linux friends, I am a python guy so i need to rename some .py files inside my directory and would like to save some time by using pyRenamer. The following screenshot display all python files i want to rename.

1. I Launch pyrenamer from the terminal and navigate to the folder where my files are stored.

sudo pyrenamer

2. Then, I go to Insert/Delete tab and type the name I like to have for my files. Note: While you insert text you should also specify the position where this text will be placed.

3. Click Preview to see your changes.

4. Click Rename and everything is done.
