Add / Remove Software Using apt-get from Terminal In Ubuntu / Linux

I know that to be a ninja in the linux terminal is hard, but it is not impossible. With passion, hard work and dedication you can achieve whatever you want and if you want to be a 'killer' in the terminal you are in the right place.

Are you the type of Ubuntu linux user that can not do anything without the Ubuntu Software Center? You go there, search for an app you like and install it with just a few clicks. I think is time to learn two simple commands that will help you to manage software in Ubuntu linux distros.

Have you ever heard or used the apt-get install command? What about apt-get remove? Ok, open a new terminal and let me show you these two commands in practise.

To open a new terminal go to Applications, Accessories, Terminal or press CTRL + ALT + T.

Once you have opened a terminal you can use the 'sudo apt-get install' command to install applications in your Ubuntu distro.

sudo apt-get install conky

The above command will install the conky app in your system. Suppose you want to remove conky from terminal, what command do you need?

The following command can be used to remove a Software Package.

sudo apt-get remove conky

add and remove software from terminal

add and remove software from terminal

add and remove software from terminal
