Do you like to get new software versions as soon as they become available from their authors? Cool, getdeb is an unofficial project that can help you to install open source and freeware applications for the current Ubuntu Linux release in a very easy way.
How to install apps from getdeb?
Before installing free software from the web browser you need to follow the following instructions in order to install the getdeb package.
We are in the way of becoming linux ninjas, right? So, use the following command to verify the file you just downloaded is in the current directory.
ls | grep getdeb-repository_0.1-1~getdeb1_all.deb
Install the getdeb package with the following command.
sudo dpkg -i getdeb-repository_0.1-1~getdeb1_all.deb
After the installation is finished, go to this webpage, select the Ubuntu version you are browsing software for and Click the "Install this now" button below the screenshot of the desired application.
