How to Install the Latest TeamViewer In Ubuntu

TeamViewer 9 has been released with many new features and improvements. The desktop sharing software now offers Wake-on-LAN service that can wake up your computer remotely whenever you need access. Another nice and very important feature in this release of TeamViewer is the two factor authentication that helps to keep your account very secure. Do you guys like to install the latest version of TeamViewer?

Install TeamViewer 9 In Ubuntu

I like to show results to the reader so i thought to share the installation of TeamViewer 9 in Ubuntu Linux. If you want to install this software in your machine, then go and download the latest version of TeamViewer for your distribution.

After you have downloaded the .deb package, open a new terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and run the following command.

sudo dpkg -i teamviewer_linux.deb

The following screenshots show the installation of Teamviewer in my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS machine.

      Fist, we can search where is the location of teamviewer executable file using wheris command.

      $ whereis teamviewer

      Let say the file is located in /usr/bin folder. Then we can run it by typing :
      $ /usr/bin/teamviewer

      If root user is required, you can easily use sudo command.

      Teamviewer is used to do remote work based on GUI. As far as I know, the license is entered on the graphic interface. I am not sure that the license can be entered via command line interface.

      Anyway, if you need to remote the site using command line, SSH can be a good option.
