Install Skype On Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

The mission of Skype is to bring the entire world to you. You can talk and text with people from every point of globe, all you need is Skype and an internet connection.

Do you discuss alot about Linux with your friends? Then get Skype in your box and start talking with each other from your bed. You can download Skype for free and use most of its services without paying anything, but there are paid services too.

Skype requirements:

1 GHz processor or faster.
256 MB RAM.
100 MB free disk space on your hard drive.
Video card driver with Xv support.
Either a built-in or external microphone is required for voice calls.
An internet connection – broadband is best (GPRS is not supported for voice calls).

How to install skype in your Ubuntu 12.04 machine?

1. Download skype for Ubuntu 12.04
2. Open a new terminal (CTRL+ALT+T), cd to the directory where you saved the .deb package and run the following command.

dpkg -i skype-ubuntu-precise_4.2.0.11-1_i386.deb

3. Install libxss1

sudo apt-get install libxss1
